Moormann Pressed Chair, Hand-Polished Aluminum (One-Off/Small Series)
A hand-polished Moormann Pressed Chair from the Moormann laboratory
The Pressed Chair by Nils Holger Moormann is an icon of contemporary furniture design, remarkably combining minimalism and engineering. A thin sheet of aluminum is transformed into a load-bearing chair through a pressing process – a kind of "metal origami".
The aluminum chair was meticulously hand-polished. The metal's original matte or industrial finish has been transformed into a high-gloss, mirror-like effect through this hand-polishing process. Slight irregularities give the chair a unique and individual character. Fine lines and edges created by the pressing process become more pronounced and reflect the light.
If the polished finish diminishes over time, the chair can easily be repolished.
